Our History and Awards

1981 Mazzotta's Italian Kitchen began with the vision of Seb & Cheryl Mazzotta on the corner of Broad & College Street in Middletown, CT.  With no experience in the food service industry, the couple with the help of their immediate family began to piece together their idea of the best restaurant in Middletown.  They opened up with a combined restaurant and pizza area., serving hot Italian dishes they created with Nuna's recipes.
1985 With the huge success of the restaurant and pizza business the Mazzotta owners decided to venture into the bakery business.  The name was also changed to Mazzotta's Restaurant & Bakery to reflect the additional offering available.  The most successful products are the cannolis, which are filled fresh when you arrive, and the breath-taking wedding cakes.
1986 With the growing public desire to sit in a non-smoking area, it was the proprietors decision to make the whole restaurant completely non-smoking.  The owners even received an award later on by The American Cancer Society, Connecticut Division for being the first non-smoking restaurant in Connecticut.  It many even be that Mazzotta's of Middletown is the first non-smoking restaurant in America.
